HAVRE DE GRACE, MD (Apr. 12, 2006)High heels, dresses and sashes are not the typical fashions at Bulle Rock, but they were en vogue when beauty queens and their glam squads descended on Maryland’s #1 ranked public golf course.

Six Miss USA contestants filmed their state introductions, which will be broadcast at the opening of the pageant, airing Friday, April 21, on NBC. Miss Hawaii, Miss Idaho and Miss Illinois were filmed at hole #9, while Miss Indiana, Miss Iowa and Miss Kansas were filmed at hole #18. Later, all six contestants filmed a “Greetings from Bulle Rock” group shot at hole #15, with the clubhouse in the background.

Ages 20-26 and of varying heights, the contestants shared a personal assistant, but were tended to by their own makeup artists and hair stylists. Some of the gals were models, others were in college and others held jobs outside of the beauty/fashion world.

“It was unique having them here. We were honored to showcase such five-star beauty on our five-star golf course,” said Richard Rounsaville, Bulle Rock’s general manager and director of golf, noting that the contestants remarked on the beauty of the course, in addition to discussing their rigorous pageant schedule.

The Miss USA pageant will bring Bulle Rock yet another 15 minutes of worldwide fame. Last June, more than one million viewers tuned in to CBS to watch the McDonald’s LPGA Championship. Due to its success, the LPGA will hold the Championship at Bulle Rock for the next five years.

Additionally, Tuck Everlasting was filmed at the old Victorian mansion adjacent to the course. During the LPGA Championship, the LPGA took over the mansion, setting up its tournament headquarters and day care center for players’ and caddies’ families.

Designed by Pete Dye, Bulle Rock is considered one of the best public courses in the nation, and the destination golf course in the mid-Atlantic region. With a course rating of 76.4, a slope rating of 147 and a yardage of 7,375, the course will test the best of golfers. Marvelous green complexes and four sets of tees make it a challenge for all golfers with varying skill levels.

Bulle Rock also offers a fairway range with an all-grass teeing area, a full-service locker room, a pro shop and a strong caddy program, as well as newly designed and expanded restaurant and banquet facilities. For more information, call 410.939.8887 or visit www.bullerockgolf.com.

Upon completion, it will comprise approximately 2,000 condos, villas and single-family homes built by Clark Turner, D.R. Horton, NVHomes, Ryan Homes and Ryland Homes (and coming soon, Bozzuto Homes).
