1ST ANNUAL BULLE ROCK TURKEY TROT TO BENEFIT SUSQUEHANNA HOSE COMPANY

HAVRE DE GRACE, Md. (Oct. 16, 2007) − On Thanksgiving morning, Havre de Grace-area residents are encouraged to burn off some calories before the big feast and raise money for a great cause by participating in the 1st Annual Bulle Rock Turkey Trot benefiting the Susquehanna Hose Company.

Open to the public for all age groups and fitness levels, the walk/run event will commence Nov. 22 at 9 a.m., with registration occurring at 8 a.m., at the Residents’ Club at The Residences at Bulle Rock (1200 Bulle Rock Pkwy. Take I-95 to Exit 89 East. Take first right onto Bulle Rock Parkway and follow signs to the Residents’ Club, which will be visible from the traffic circle.)
           
The almost 5K route will travel from the Residents’ Club down Bulle Rock Parkway across the Zachman Way pedestrian bridge and down Blenheim Road to the five-star Bulle Rock Golf Course (Maryland’s #1 public golf course and home of the McDonald’s LPGA Championship). Walkers and runners will take the reverse route back to the Residents’ Club for completion of the event.

At approximately 10:30 a.m., prizes will be awarded for runners in the following categories: Youth: 14 and under; Adolescent: age 15-19; Open: age 20-39, and Masters: age 40 and over. Additionally, one award will be given each to the youngest and the oldest Turkey Trot participant.

Throughout the morning, there will be equipment and fire safety demonstrations by the Susquehanna Hose Company, which is responsible for the fire protection services for the City of Havre De Grace.

The Susquehanna Hose Company consists of five firehouses that operate five engines, tower, rescue, mini-pumper, three boats, a dive unit, swift water unit and four utility vehicles. It has responded to each and every call over the last several decades and is known as ”The Fastest Volunteers in the Nation ” because of its quick response times.  

“We greatly appreciate the support of the new Bulle Rock Community,” said Susquehanna Hose Company Chief C. Scott Hurst. “Their donations will help the Susquehanna Hose Company continue to have the tools and equipment it needs to serve the City of Havre de Grace.”

HeartSmart is coordinating registration for the event. Pre-registration for kids 10 and under is $10 and $20 for anyone age 10 and above.  Day of registration will increase by $5 for both age groups. Checks should be made payable to “HeartSmart.” The pre-registration and registration price includes a long-sleeve logo
T- shirt, refreshments and prizes.
